Concert review from Sassi of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Gringo of Hamburg, Germany

Sassi & Gringo

On December 27, 2002 we celebrated our engagement at the Modjeska Theater in Milwaukee where the Dark Star Orchestra was playing that night.

When we entered the Theater we were quite impressed by the setup on stage : Very colorful curtains in the background gave a nice atmosphere to the room. We also appreciated very much that it was a non smoking event!

The crowd of young and old Deadheads were on their feet and dancing in the aisles as soon as the band walked onto stage. When we closed our eyes we believed to hear Bob Weir or Jerry Garcia sing and Jerry noodle his typical melodic solos. Everyone agreed on that the roles of Bobby and Jerry were played excellent - especially the guitar solos. An honorable mention should be given to the organ player for keeping everyone dancing and on their feet too!

By the set break everyone was trying to guess which Dead show the band had picked to play that night. Most favored was a date from the early 80s but it turned out to be 12/27/79! Exactly 23 years ago! An excellent choice by the band. We loved every minute of it! The concert ended at the midnight hour but the crowd definitely wanted to stay longer and cheered the band on for more encores. They didn't let us wait too long and everyone enjoyed Lisa Mackey playing Donna Godcheaux and dancing and singing for the last song. Sassi and Gringo will always remember a wonderful concert !!!

- The concert is  for trade on CD now ! -

Awesome sound quality. For details look up my etree list. Peace and let the music play on forever ! :-)
